Change Your Focus

I’m a firm believer in the power of your words. Negativity is rampant in the world. The news, social media, even casual conversation. People in general are focusing on the worst of the worst. But here’s something to remember - when you focus on the worst, that’s all you’re going to see. It’s time to change our focus.

2 Chronicles 15:1-2 - Now the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded. And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

Through the challenges this world brings, where do you get your information from? What are you feeding your spirit with? We’ve all heard this Scripture:

1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

We know the enemy is trying his best to trip us up, to cause us to stumble and fall. That’s his goal, and he knows his time is short. Yet so many times I’ve seen Christians running scared of the devil because of this Scripture. So many have forgotten that God is greater than the enemy.

1 John 4:4 - You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Instead of focusing on what the enemy is trying to do in your life, why not focus on this:

2 Chronicles 16:9a - For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

What is God doing in your life? What blessings have you received from Him today? Are you alive, breathing? I dare say yes, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this. Did you know you have a choice in what to focus on?

Deuteronomy 30:15 - I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.

The Bible says we have a choice, so let’s choose LIFE! Let’s choose JOY! Let’s choose His GOOD NEWS! Today, let’s make a point to think of at least one blessing the Lord has given us (although most of us have several), and just take a few moments to thank Him for it. It may change the whole course of your day!

Be blessed my friends!
